I am nervous for days before a dental appointment and when I learned that my wonderful dentist had retired I felt that the crown I needed was not going to be possible. Dr Dahm, however, was a great surprise. She proved herself to be empathetic. Her gentle approach to my fears was freeing and helpful. I had found another dentist that can work with me. She is polished and capable and gives you clear care instructions. My new crown is waiting for me trouble free and pain free.

I contacted Dr. Chang's office to see if I could get a gold crown. I did not want a ceramic crown. Deborah, the office lady, got back to me very quickly and made me an appointment for Wednesday so I only had to wait two days to see Dr. Chang. In my entire life I have always had to wait a very long time to see any dentist for the initial appointment so this was a pleasant shock. Dr. Chang, Deborah, the office lady, and Norma, Dr. Chang's assistant, are all very nice. Dr. Chang did a basic limited exam and got right to the point about the condition of the tooth that needs the crown and about all my teeth in general and proposed a dental plan. Deborah then set up my appointments and called the gold lab to see if they could do this crown on a little bit more of an accelerated schedule and they were able to do that. I am happy with the treatment that I have received so far. I'm looking forward to getting this tooth protected with the gold crown that it needs and hope it's a nice gold crown.

As always my experience in Dr. Chang‘s office has been flawless from start to finish. Everything from reminders before your visit, to the pleasant and efficient front desk staff, fantastic hygienist (Brooke) and excellent doctors. One thing I especially like about Dr. Chang is that she is very methodical and clinically smart. She doesn’t over treat, and she always presents the pros and cons of any procedure. She also does a thorough check for cancer of your mouth and neck every time you come in. I’m a doctor, and to me that’s a sign of a truly excellent clinician We moved overseas but we continue to come back to Portland in part so that we can remain under Dr. Chang‘s excellent care.

I was having serious tooth pain and Dr. Chang's staff got me in right away. Turned out I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown and, possibly, a root canal. But I got a temporary crown and the pain immediately subsided. Then two days later and the day before a trip, a crown fell out. Once again Dr. Chang got me in immediately and fixed it. Turns out this was a crown she had placed almost 30 years ago. I've relied on quality care from Dr. Chang and her staff for over 30 years and she's never let me or my family down.

I made an appointment with Dr. Chang , or so I thought. It turned out that Dr. Dahm is taking Dr. Chang's spot with new patients. I am new because my previous dentist retired this year. Wow! Am I impressed. She told me more about dentistry and how my teeth are than any other dentist I've ever had. Also she cleaned my teeth! First time I'v had a dentist rather than a hygienist! She was very engaged personally without taking too much time. And she hummed while taking care of my teeth! Very soothing. No doubt I'll be back in six months!

Dr. Chang was my childhood dentist from the early 90s-mid 2000s. After many years of braces, and a bad dental experience later in life, I started experiencing high anxiety over visiting the dentist, so I just avoided going. Recently I decided it was finally time to work on this anxiety and give my teeth the love health they deserve! I remembered Dr. Chang being gentle and educational, so I booked an appointment with her office. The gal at the front desk, Heather, was lovely and very communicative. Dr. Chang greeted me when I arrived, and after chatting a bit remembered me and my family! She also did a great job calming my nerves before I saw her dental partner, Dr. Mistry, who was working his last day at the clinic but was also outstanding. The dental assistant (Deborah possibly?) was also amazing! Unfortunately for me, I have a few procedures coming up but I do feel slightly less anxious knowing I am in good hands with Dr. Chang and her fabulous team :)

Part of my evaluation of professional practitioners is the longevity of there support staff. Most people do not enjoy going to the dentist, but a visit to Dr Chang's office is always pleasant. I love the soothing decor, with comfy well spaced couches in the living er, waiting room. Pictures of Bruges, Belgium in the bathroom, (and the kind of creepy child drawing about wanting to build things with peoples teeth!) luxuriant, health plants and gardens, plus mobiles and things to distract you while your teeth are being gently chiseled clean! I am impressed with their covid protocols and how they used an airblower to disinfect the procedure room after my visit. I really appreciate Dr. Mistry and his calming manner and prudent direction on restoring my smile. My only concern is the number of reminder texts, emails and phonecalls about upcoming appointments, at least 10.

The Doc and her staff are top flight: professional, considerate, congenial... and they always go the extra mile to ensure you get quality care. Being an oldster who has moved a lot, I've had a wide range of experience, luckily primarily good. But what stands out for me with this office are two things. Under Dr Chang's care, I've vastly improved my personal dental hygiene regimen, and you know that saying about old dogs and new tricks! Secondly, Dr Chang makes sure any restorations are a perfect fit and color match... on a rare occasion when she was not satisfied, she went ahead and ordered a new one from the lab. I feel confident about the care I receive, and am relaxed when "in the chair."

My wife and I just moved to the greater-Portland area and, on the advice of our dentist in our previous location, we contacted Dr. Chang. We were cordially welcomed and easily set up our appointment for a routine teeth cleaning. To our surprise and delight, Dr. Change herself did the cleaning because, as she said, "This gives me the chance to get to know my clients better." We each found her charming, thorough, helpful (teaching us about the why's and how's of correct dental care), and genuinely caring. Her office support staff were equally warm and welcoming. We were particularly impressed with the detailed care and procedure in regard to proper protocol during this pandemic time. Based on this initial experience, would I recommend Dr. Chang for dental care? 100% yes. Indeed! Not that I'm eager for visits to the dentist, but I am not at all hesitant about an upcoming minor procedure that she recommended for follow-up. She and her staff are worthy of my 5-star rating. After many decades of suffering at the hands of dentists and their weapons, I finally consented to allow Dr. Chang to perform a relatively minor procedure on some of my teeth -- a protective reinforcement of the exposed roots of several of my molars. In the interim between making the appointment and having the procedure, I reviewed my past history with her in graphic terms, in order to assist her preparations. She responded with positive and reinforcing remarks, causing me to think, "Sure. Just like all the doctors before you..." Having now had the procedure performed by her and her staff, I would just comment that I WILL NEVER GO TO A DIFFERENT DENTIST. NEVER. The procedure with Dr. Chang was done with the utmost care and precision, causing me no discomfort at all. AT ALL. And the results look nothing short of spectacular. I am immeasurably grateful to Dr. Chang and her professionalism. I have now found my dentist for the rest of my life, luck willing. Dr. Chang IS THE ONE.

My family and I have been receiving Dr. Chang's exceptional dental care for about 15 years. She and all the hygienists and staff are not only great at what they do, they are kind and thoughtful, and truly treat you as part of the family. I've had several dentists over many years and across multiple states, and Dr. Chang is the best—thoughtful, kind, courteous, never rushed. She exudes warmth and the confidence that comes from being very good at what you do. Her staff reflects these qualities as well, including the office administrator, Debra, who is invariably cheerful and helpful. (And what a lovely voice!) I've only dealt with Dr. Mistry a couple of times so far, but he strikes me as every bit as impressive as Dr. Chang. I can't say I enjoy going to the dentist—who does?—but Dr. Chang and her staff, in my opinion, are as good as it gets.

I would trust this Dentist and group with anyone who I care about. The exam room was comfortable and had a calming window view of flowering trees and leafy bamboo, and the dangling mobile overhead was made of tiny pastel-colored paper umbrellas; the whole effect was one of laying back to nap in a favorite sun room rather than in a dentist's chair. There was no tension during the exam because I felt that Dr. Chang knows the work, looks thoroughly, and listens too.

As a retired physician I am very aware and appreciative of the attention to detail that I have found in Dr. May Chang's practice. My fist encounter with the practice was an emergency visit after my previous dentist had retired. The staff was very responsive to my dilemma, and Dr. Chang fit me into her schedule that day, got me started on antibiotics and referred me to an endodontist. On my first scheduled visit I was very impressed by Dr. Chang's hands on training in proper oral hygiene, the basis of oral health. Dr. Chang's website has a lot of very useful information, including what to do in dental emergencies, as well as outlining the measures taken in the office to keep patients safe during the pandemic. Dr. Mistry is Dr. Chang's partner, and has the same focus on patient care that Dr. Chang does. I consider myself and my family members to be most fortunate to have found Dr. May Chang and her team.
May Chang is a Dental Goddess, she (and her long-time receptionist Deborah, Hygienist Brooke, etc.) are simply the best. Period. She’s been taking care of my whole family for over 20 years and we consider her part of OUR family.
